Sell your Speedmaster · South Florida · by appointment
Sell your Speedmaster to someone who reads the calibre first.
Moonwatch or Reduced, calibre 321 to 3861, hesalite or sapphire. Send photos and I reply within 1 business day with an offer and the reasons for it.
- Moonwatch Professional placed by calibre generation, not by the name on the dial
- Snoopy, Apollo, and other numbered editions priced as a set
- Vintage calibre 321 references seen in person before a firm number
- Prepaid insured FedEx label, or an appointment in your county

Who this page is for
Which Speedmaster you own decides how I read it.
This page is for the owner of a Speedmaster who wants to know which one they have in a dealer's eyes and what that does to the offer. A hesalite 3570.50 on calibre 1861, a 2021 Moonwatch on calibre 3861, a 39 mm automatic Reduced, and a ceramic Dark Side of the Moon all say Speedmaster on the dial. They are not priced against each other.
Most Speedmasters I see were bought new and worn hard, inherited with the reference unknown, or kept boxed as a limited edition. Each needs a different answer.
Hesalite versus sapphire in general, the Master Chronometer card, the Extract of the Archives, and service parts are covered on the Omega page. Here I cover only what is specific to the Speedmaster: calibre generations, references, editions, bezel, bracelet, and what must be in your photos.

Selling a Speedmaster to a private dealer
What a Speedmaster buyer does differently.
Calibre before condition
I place a Moonwatch in its generation first, 321, 861, 1861, or 3861, then judge condition against what that generation should look like.
Editions checked as a set
A Snoopy, an Apollo anniversary, or a Speedy Tuesday is priced on the case back number, the numbered card, and the box together. I check all three.
Vintage quoted after inspection
A 105.012, a 145.012, or an early 145.022 is never priced from a photo alone: a working range from the images, a firm number under the loupe.
Bezel and bracelet read, not assumed
Bezels and bracelets were swapped at service for decades. I read the insert style and the bracelet reference against the case era before I quote.
What I check on a Speedmaster
Six things that move a Speedmaster offer.
Brand-level checks are on the Omega page.
Calibre: 321, 861, 1861, or 3861
Engraved on the movement and printed on modern cards. It sets the era and the buyer pool faster than anything else.
Hesalite or sapphire, on this reference
The hesalite 3570.50 and the sapphire-sandwich 3573.50 share a case and a movement but trade in separate lanes. The 2021 3861 keeps both options.
Numbered editions and their cards
Snoopy, Apollo 11 and 13 anniversaries, Speedy Tuesday, Ultraman. The case back number, the numbered card, and the box carry the whole premium.
Bezel insert: DON or service
On vintage pieces collectors want the dot over the ninety on the tachymeter scale. A bright service bezel on a 1960s or 1970s case moves the offer down.
Bracelet and end-link pairing
Bracelet references such as 1171, 1479, and 1998 belong to spans of production. The number inside the clasp and the end-link number should fit the case.
The automatic Speedmasters
Reduced, Date, Day-Date, Mark II, '57, and Racing trade on their own comparables, never as Moonwatches.
How it works
Four steps, Speedmaster photos in the first.
01
Get an offer
Submit the appraisal form with photos of the dial in daylight, the tachymeter bezel from above with the ninety readable, the case back or display back, the inside of the clasp with the bracelet number, the end link, and the warranty or edition card. I reply personally within 1 business day.
02
Ship or meet
Take the prepaid, fully insured FedEx label, or book an appointment in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach. Vintage Speedmasters are best seen in person.
03
Inspect and confirm
I open the box on camera and check the calibre, bezel, dial, crystal, bracelet, serial, and card against the generation. If it matches the photos, the offer stands.
04
Get paid
Wire or check within 24 hours of inspection. If we do not agree, the watch goes back to you, insured, at my cost.
Two sides of the family
The hand-wound Moonwatch against the rest of the line.
The first split is the movement. Each side is read with different questions.
| Criteria | Moonwatch Professional, hand-wound | Automatic and ceramic Speedmasters |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | Calibre 321, 861, 1861, or the 3861 Master Chronometer, wound by the crown | Automatic chronographs: Reduced, Date, Day-Date, Mark II reissue, '57, Racing, and the ceramic pieces |
| Case | 42 mm asymmetric steel case with crown guards; straight lugs on the Ed White | 39 mm on the Reduced and Date, tonneau on the Mark II, 44.25 mm ceramic on the Dark Side |
| Crystal and back | Hesalite with a solid back, or sapphire front and display back on the sandwich references | Sapphire throughout, display backs on most modern references |
| What lifts the offer | A full set, an unpolished case, the original bezel and bracelet, an archive extract on vintage pieces | Card and box, the correct bracelet or strap with its deployant, and an unchipped ceramic case |
| What lowers it | A service bezel on a vintage case, a cracked hesalite, a swapped bracelet, a service dial | A chipped ceramic corner, a missing deployant, or a Reduced sold on a Moonwatch quote |
These are directions, not figures. I show which rows moved your number, and by how much, in the reply.
The detail
What moves a Speedmaster offer, reference by reference.
The Moonwatch Professional by calibre generation
The calibre inside a Speedmaster Professional is the fastest way to place it. Calibre 321, a column-wheel movement, ran through the 1960s in references like the 105.012 and 145.012, the watches worn on the moon. Calibre 861 replaced it around 1968 in the 145.022, with a cam in place of the column wheel. The 1861 is the same design with rhodium plating, from the late 1990s through the 3570.50 and the 311-series. The 3861 arrived in 2021 as a Co-Axial Master Chronometer.
Vintage calibre 321 and the 2020 Ed White reissue
A vintage calibre 321 Speedmaster is a collector's watch, and I quote it after inspection. The dial, hands, bezel, crown, and pushers all need to belong to the watch; a service replacement on any of them changes the number. If yours is a straight-lug 105.003, a 105.012, or a 145.012, say so in the form and I will book time for it.
Omega revived the 321 in 2020 in a 39.7 mm steel case that follows the Ed White 105.003. It is a modern watch with a modern card, sold in a separate lane from the vintage pieces it honours. Send the card and the box.
Hesalite 3570.50, sapphire 3573.50, and the 2021 pair
On the 1861 generation the hesalite 3570.50 has a solid case back and the sapphire-sandwich 3573.50 has a sapphire front and a display back. Omega kept both options in the 311-series and in the 2021 3861 Moonwatch. Neither crystal is wrong. What matters is which one you have and whether it is in good order. A hesalite replaced at service is normal; a cracked or deeply scratched one is priced as a part.
Snoopy and the other numbered editions
Beyond Apollo 11, Apollo 13, Speedy Tuesday, and Ultraman, the 2003 and 2015 Snoopy editions are numbered runs with a number on the case back and a numbered card. The 2020 Silver Snoopy 50th Anniversary, with the animated case back, is not a numbered edition; it has a standard card and its own box. On the numbered pieces, the case back number, the card, and the box together are the premium. One missing, and the premium shrinks.
Dark Side of the Moon and the ceramic Speedmasters
The Dark Side of the Moon is a 44.25 mm black ceramic case on an automatic Co-Axial chronograph, launched in 2013 and followed by Grey Side, White Side, and the Apollo 8. Ceramic resists scratches, but a corner strike chips it, and a chip cannot be polished out. The strap, deployant, and card matter more here than on a steel Moonwatch.
Reduced, Date, Day-Date, Mark II, '57, and Racing
The Speedmaster Reduced is a 39 mm automatic made from the late 1980s into the 2000s, and it trades on its own market. The automatic Date and Day-Date sit near it. The Mark II is the 1969 tonneau-cased watch and its 2014 reissue. The '57 is the two-register Co-Axial from 2013, and the Racing is the Master Chronometer chronograph with the checked minute track. I buy all of them. The one mistake to avoid is quoting a Reduced from a Moonwatch listing.
Bezel inserts and bracelets: the parts that get replaced
On vintage pieces, the tachymeter bezel with the dot over the ninety, the DON bezel, is what collectors expect on a 321 or early 861 watch. A later service bezel puts the dot beside the ninety and lowers the offer. On any Moonwatch, the bracelet reference is stamped inside the clasp and the end links are numbered. Roughly, a 1171 belongs with a 145.022, a 1479 with the 1990s 3570.50, and a 1998 with the later hesalite. A modern bracelet on a vintage case is priced as a replacement; the original, if it is in a drawer, restores most of that.
When selling to me is not the right call
If you own a calibre 321 reference with an unusual dial, a specialist auction may reach a collector I cannot, and I will say so after inspection. If your 3861 is new and you simply want a different watch, a trade may serve you better. If you want the watch sold this week, inspected by one person and paid within 24 hours of that inspection, this is the right page.
How to prepare your Speedmaster submission
- The dial straight on in daylight, close enough to read the subdial printing and the lume colour.
- The tachymeter bezel from directly above, with the ninety and the seventy readable.
- The case back, or the movement through the display back, with the calibre engraving legible.
- The clasp open with the bracelet number in focus, and the end link between the lugs.
- The warranty card, Master Chronometer card, or numbered edition card beside the watch, numbers visible.
- On an edition, the box. On a vintage piece, any old bezel, bracelet, or service bag.
Questions, answered
Before you send a Speedmaster
How do I tell which Moonwatch calibre I have?
Modern warranty cards list it. Otherwise send a clear photo of the case back and dial; the reference places it, and I confirm at inspection.
Is hesalite or sapphire worth more?
They trade in separate lanes, and the gap is small next to condition and the set. A complete hesalite usually beats an incomplete sapphire.
My Snoopy has no numbered card. Does that matter?
On the 2003 and 2015 numbered editions, yes. The case back number still counts, but the matching card is part of the premium. The 2020 Silver Snoopy is not numbered, so there is no numbered card to miss.
Do you buy the Speedmaster Reduced?
Yes, priced as a Reduced on its own comparables, not as a Moonwatch. Send the case back and clasp photos.
Should I order an Extract of the Archives first?
Only for some vintage pieces, mainly calibre 321 and early 861 references. Send photos first; if an extract will change the offer, I will say so before you pay Omega for it.
