My Timeless Pieces

Sell your Pelagos · South Florida · by appointment

Sell your Tudor Pelagos to a dealer who reads the dial text first.

A 25500TN, a 25600TN or TB, an LHD, a 39, or an FXD: each trades on its own comparables. Send photos and the reference. I reply within 1 business day with a number and the reasoning.

  • ETA and in-house Pelagos appraised as the different watches they are
  • Titanium case, clasp, valve, and strap set checked by me
  • Prepaid insured FedEx label, or an appointment in your county
  • Wire or check within 24 hours of inspection

Who this page is for

One name on the dial, five watches underneath it.

This page is for the owner of a Pelagos who wants to sell it and wants to know, first, which one it is. The name has covered an ETA-based 42, an in-house 42 in black and in blue, a left-handed LHD with a numbered caseback, a 39 without a helium valve, and the FXD with fixed strap bars and no bracelet. They do not share a buyer.

Titanium shows its life, and hairlines are expected. What I look for is whether the clasp still springs, whether the rubber strap and its extension piece are still in the box, and whether the dial text and the caseback agree about the movement inside.

ETA versus manufacture calibres across the Tudor range, the warranty card, bronze, and the Rolex relationship are covered on the Tudor page. Here I stay on the Pelagos: the references, the photos, and what moves the offer.

A matte black Tudor Pelagos dial photographed straight on in soft daylight, the depth rating and the movement text at six o'clock legible.

What I check on a Pelagos

The points that separate one Pelagos from the next.

ETA or in-house, settled first

The 25500TN runs an ETA 2824 base. The 25600TN, 25600TB, and LHD run the MT5612. The text at six o'clock and the case thickness tell me which before I read the card.

The clasp that adjusts itself

The 42 mm bracelet has a spring-loaded clasp that gives over a wetsuit, plus a fold-out extension. I check that it still springs, locks flat, and was not bent.

The rubber strap and the extension piece

A Pelagos leaves the boutique with a rubber strap and an extension beside the bracelet. The next buyer asks for both, so the complete set is worth more.

Titanium, read honestly

Hairlines on brushed titanium are expected and priced lightly. A case refinished until the edges have gone soft is a different conversation.

Inspected by hand

I check the case, valve, clasp, movement, serial, and card myself. Nothing goes to a grading team.

What moves the offer

Six Pelagos details that change the number.

Each one moves the offer up or down. I say which way in the reply.

The text at six o'clock

ROTOR SELF-WINDING under the depth rating means the ETA watch. CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED means the in-house MT5612. A dial that disagrees with the caseback is settled before I buy.

The LHD's numbered caseback

The 25610TNL is numbered on the back, not limited. I read the number, confirm the crown sits on the left, note the cream lume and the red and black date wheel, and price it against LHDs only.

Blue or black

The 25600TB blue dial and bezel arrived with the in-house movement. Blue and black are counted separately.

Pelagos 39 is not a small 42

The 25407N has no helium valve, a 200 m rating, the MT5400, and a T-fit clasp. It has its own buyer and is priced against other 39s.

FXD: fixed bars, no bracelet

The 25707B's strap bars are part of the case. It never had a bracelet, so a missing one is not a gap. The fabric and rubber straps it shipped with are.

Your risk is covered

The label is prepaid on my FedEx account, insured to the declared value, signature required, opened on camera.

How it works

Four steps. Real numbers.

  1. 01

    Get an offer

Submit the form with photos: dial straight on in daylight so the text at six o'clock reads, the caseback, the case side at nine o'clock, the clasp open with the extension out, the rubber strap and its extension piece, and the card beside the watch. I reply within 1 business day.

  2. 02

    Ship or meet

Take the prepaid, insured FedEx label, or book an appointment in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach. Pack the bracelet and the strap apart from the case.

  3. 03

    Inspect and confirm

I open the box on camera and check the dial text against the caseback, the valve, the insert, the clasp, the serial, and the movement. If it matches the photos, the offer stands.

  4. 04

    Get paid

Wire or check within 24 hours of inspection. If we do not agree, the watch goes back to you, insured, at my cost.

Pelagos 42 or Pelagos 39

Not sure which you own? The depth rating and the valve at nine o'clock settle it.

The detail

What moves a Pelagos offer, and why.

The Pelagos references, in order

The Pelagos arrived in 2012 as the 25500TN: 42 mm titanium, a matte ceramic bezel insert, a helium escape valve, 500 m on the dial, and an ETA 2824 base inside. In 2015 Tudor replaced it with the 25600TN and added the blue 25600TB, both on the in-house MT5612. The LHD, 25610TNL, followed around 2016 with the crown on the left, cream lume, a red and black date wheel, and an individually numbered caseback.

The FXD, 25707B, came in 2021 with strap bars fixed to the case, a countdown bezel, 200 m, and a fabric strap in place of a bracelet. The Pelagos 39, 25407N, arrived in 2022, slimmer, with no valve and the MT5400. An FXD chronograph followed later. Each is priced against its own kind.

ETA or in-house: how to tell without opening the case

Read the text under the depth rating. The 25500TN says ROTOR SELF-WINDING. The 25600 says CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED, because the MT5612 is COSC-certified and the ETA version is not. The in-house watch is also noticeably thicker, with a power reserve of roughly 70 hours against around two days on the ETA. Neither is the wrong one to own; the in-house watch is current and has the larger pool of buyers, and the ETA watch is thinner. I price each against its own reference.

The LHD and the numbered caseback

The LHD is a left-hand-drive watch: crown at nine, valve at three. It is numbered, not limited, so the number does not cap production, but buyers ask for it and I record it. The cream lume and the roulette date are correct on this reference and wrong on any other Pelagos. Send the caseback and the dial in the same daylight.

Titanium: what wears, and what not to do

Brushed titanium picks up hairlines faster than steel and holds them. On a Pelagos that is expected, and it costs you little. What costs you more is a refinish that rounds the case edges or turns the brushed centre links shiny, because titanium does not come back from a heavy polish the way steel does. Dents on the bezel edge and the clasp are priced, not disqualifying. Please do not have the watch refinished before you send it.

The clasp, the rubber strap, and the extension piece

The 42 mm clasp is the part of a Pelagos most likely to have been handled badly. I check that the spring section still returns, the extension still locks, and the clasp lies flat. The box also held a rubber strap and a separate extension piece for wearing it over a wetsuit. If both are present, photograph them. If the strap is gone, the set is priced as incomplete, and I tell you how much that matters on your reference.

Pelagos 39 and FXD are their own markets

The 39 is the Pelagos for people who found the 42 too big, and its buyer is a different person: no valve, 200 m, a T-fit clasp, a slimmer case. The FXD is a 42 mm tool watch with bars fixed so a strap cannot pull free, a countdown bezel, and a fabric strap. It never came with a bracelet, so do not apologise for not having one. I price the 39 against 39s and the FXD against FXDs, never as a discounted 42.

When selling to me is not the right call

If you want me to say the ETA 25500TN will climb because it was discontinued, I cannot; I buy at what the market pays this week. If you have months to chase the highest private-sale price, a dealer offer will sit below what a patient seller might get. If the watch is a replica, I will tell you and will not buy it. If you are moving up to a Sea-Dweller, trading the Pelagos toward it often makes more sense than a cash sale. If you want a clean, insured, documented sale from one person who can explain the number, that is what I do.

How to prepare your submission

  • Dial straight on in daylight, so the depth rating, the text at six o'clock, and the lume colour read correctly.
  • The caseback, with the LHD number if you have one, and the serial between the lugs if you can read it.
  • The case side at nine o'clock, showing the valve or its absence.
  • The clasp open: spring section, extension, and the underside.
  • The rubber strap and the extension piece beside the bracelet, or say which is missing.
  • The warranty card beside the watch, or say it is missing.
  • Service history, or say you do not know, and whether you ship on my label or meet in person.

Questions, answered

Before you send a Pelagos

Is my Pelagos the ETA or the in-house version?

Read the dial under the depth rating. ROTOR SELF-WINDING is the ETA 25500TN. CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED is the in-house 25600TN, 25600TB, or LHD.

Is the LHD worth more?

It is priced against other LHDs, and the left crown, cream lume, and numbered caseback give it a following. Whether it sits above a 25600TN depends on the week, condition, and the set.

Does the FXD come without a bracelet?

Yes. The FXD has strap bars fixed to the case and shipped on a fabric strap with a rubber strap beside it. A missing bracelet is not a gap; a missing strap is.

What if I lost the rubber strap?

I still appraise the watch. The set is priced as incomplete, and I tell you how much that matters for your reference.

What if I have no card?

The offer leans harder on the serial, the dial, and the inspection. I explain how much the missing card affects this reference; the Tudor page covers the card in general.
