Buy a Patek Philippe · South Florida · by appointment
Buy a pre-owned Patek Philippe from one person, quietly.
Nautilus, Aquanaut, Calatrava, or a complication. I inspect each Patek in person, match the numbers to the papers, and quote it across a desk, not on a web page. Your name and your purchase stay between us.
- Movement and case numbers matched to the certificate
- Sealed or worn, stated plainly in every listing
- Priced in person, with the reasoning shown

Who this page is for
A Patek purchase turns on paperwork, patience, and who is in the room.
This page is for the buyer who has settled on Patek Philippe and now needs to decide between a sealed example and a worn one, between a Nautilus and an Aquanaut, between the catalog and a commissioned search, and between a private dealer and an auction or a marketplace. At this level the questions are about documents and discretion as much as the watch.
I buy Patek Philippe watches in person from collectors and estates across South Florida, inspect the movement myself, match the numbers to the Certificate of Origin, and list each piece with everything I hold. Some references I quote only across a desk. I say so rather than post a number I would have to walk back.
Below: sealed versus worn from the buyer's side, what the Extract from the Archives proves and what it does not, the Nautilus and Aquanaut reference families, how discretion works on a purchase like this, and why the price is quoted in person. What moves a Patek offer when you sell is on the sell page, linked rather than repeated.

Buying a Patek here
What a high-value purchase needs from the seller.
Discretion, start to finish
I handle every message, call, and meeting myself. No staff, no listing of your name anywhere, no discussion of the transaction afterwards.
Numbers matched before listing
Patek records a movement number and a case number for each watch. I confirm both agree with each other and with the Certificate of Origin before the watch is offered.
Sealed or worn, stated
An unworn watch with its film and every document is a different purchase from a worn one. The listing says which, and a sealed watch stays sealed until you own it.
Priced across a desk
Steel Nautilus and Aquanaut references move fast enough that a posted figure goes stale. I quote in person and show what drives the number.

Which Patek
Three families, and who each one suits.
Each link opens the model page with the references and the checks for that family.
Nautilus
The integrated-bracelet sports watch. 5711 and its dials, 5712, 5726, 5980, 7118, and the 5811. Sealed or worn, quoted in person.
View →Aquanaut
The rubber-strap sports watch. 5167, 5168G, 5164, 5968, and the Luce. Lighter on the wrist and easier to find than a Nautilus; the strap is part of the value.
View →Calatrava
The time-only dress watch. 5196, 6119, 5227, and vintage 96 examples. Judged on metal, dial, and condition; the steadiest Patek market.
View →Complications
Annual and perpetual calendars, chronographs, world time. Inspected in person before any number; usually sourced to order rather than stocked.

01
Bought privately
I buy from collectors and estates by appointment in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, or on my insured label, and record the provenance the seller can give.
02
Numbers and movement checked
Movement and case numbers against the certificate, the movement inspected in person, the dial and case checked for refinishing. Complications are examined before any figure.
03
Documents gathered
Certificate of Origin, Extract if one exists, Patek Philippe service records, original strap and signed buckle or clasp, boxes and booklets.
04
Offered with what I know
Worn or sealed, documents held, service history, and the provenance I can state. Some pieces are offered privately before they appear in the catalog.
05
Seen, then delivered
An appointment at my office or in your county. Remote buyers get photos, video, and a call, then fully insured FedEx with an inspection window on arrival.
Sealed or worn
An unworn Patek against a worn one, from the buyer's side.
Both are legitimate purchases. They belong to different markets, and the right one depends on whether you plan to wear the watch.
| Criteria | Sealed, unworn, film intact | Worn, graded on condition |
|---|---|---|
| What you are buying | The watch as it left the boutique, with every document, often with a recent certificate date | The watch as it has been lived with, described by me: unpolished, lightly worn, or serviced |
| Level | Trades in its own market, above a worn example of the same reference | The reference's market level, adjusted for condition and documents |
| What happens when you wear it | It becomes a worn watch the day the film comes off; the premium does not come back | Nothing changes; you are wearing what you paid for |
| What to check before paying | That the film is factory film, the certificate date, the numbers, and that the watch has not been sized | Case edges, dial originality, bracelet stretch, service record, and the numbers |
| Who it suits | The buyer who wants a reference in untouched condition, to keep or to hold | The buyer who wants to wear a Patek and would rather pay for the watch than the film |
| When this option wins | A current steel sport reference you intend to keep sealed | Any Patek you intend to wear, and almost every Calatrava or complication |
If you buy a sealed watch and plan to wear it, buy the worn one instead and keep the difference. I will say this at the appointment too.
Before you pay
What a Patek buyer should ask, and what I answer.
What the Extract from the Archives proves
Patek Philippe keeps records for the watches it has made, and an owner can request an Extract from the Archives. It confirms the date of manufacture, the date of sale, and the original specification: metal, dial, and movement. For a vintage or older watch without its certificate, it answers the first question a buyer asks. Ask whether an Extract exists for the watch, and read it against the numbers on the case and movement.
What the Extract does not prove
An Extract describes the watch as it left Geneva. It does not say whether the dial on the watch today is the one listed, whether the case has been polished, whether the movement has been serviced, or who has owned it since. It is not a condition report and not a guarantee of authenticity for the watch in front of you; a correct Extract can be paired with the wrong watch. That is why the numbers, the dial, and the movement are checked in person before any Patek I sell is offered.
Nautilus and Aquanaut: which family
The Nautilus is the steel or gold sports watch on an integrated bracelet: the 5711 time-and-date, the 5712 with moon phase, the 5726 annual calendar, the 5980 chronograph, the 7118 in the smaller case, and the 5811 that followed the 5711. The Aquanaut is the lighter sports watch on a composite strap: the 5167 in steel, the 5168G in white gold, the 5164 travel time, the 5968 chronograph, and the Luce for a smaller wrist. Buy the Nautilus for the bracelet and the presence; buy the Aquanaut for the comfort, the easier search, and a strap you can replace. The model pages carry what I check on each.
The Certificate of Origin and the numbers
Each Patek carries a movement number and a case number. The Certificate of Origin issued at sale records both, along with the reference and the selling retailer. When the numbers on the watch match the certificate, the watch can be traced with confidence. When the certificate is missing, the watch is still a legitimate purchase if the numbers agree with each other and with an Extract, but it belongs to a smaller pool of buyers when you sell on, and the level should reflect that. I show you the certificate against the watch at the appointment.
How discretion works on a Patek purchase
A purchase of this size should not be a public event. I handle it alone: no staff, no third-party authentication service with your name on a form, no social post. We meet at my office or in your county, wherever you prefer to complete the transfer. Delivery is by hand in South Florida or in discreet unbranded packaging on fully insured FedEx. Afterwards, the watch and the price are not discussed with anyone.
Why the price is quoted in person
A few Patek references, the steel Nautilus and Aquanaut above all, move quickly enough that a number posted on a page can be wrong within days. I would rather tell you what drives the number, show you the watch and the documents, and give you a firm figure across the desk than publish one and revise it on the phone. For a Calatrava or a complication the market is steadier, and the same rule applies: the figure comes with the watch in front of you and the reasoning beside it.
Catalog, private offer, or a commissioned search
Not every Patek I handle appears in the catalog. Some are offered privately to buyers who have told me what they want. If you are looking for a specific reference, dial, or metal, send it through the sourcing form; I look through my private network and come back with photos, video, and a call. A search is not a commitment to buy.
When buying a Patek from me is not the right call
If you want a current reference new from the boutique and you have the relationship and the patience for the allocation, that is the right route. If you want the lowest marketplace number for quick resale, I am not that listing. If the piece is a rare complication, I may need months to source it and I will say so rather than promise. If you want the numbers, the documents, and the movement checked by one person, across a desk, with nothing said afterwards, this is the place.
Questions, answered
Before you buy a Patek Philippe here
Can I see the watch before buying?
Yes, and for a Patek I recommend it. I meet by appointment, Mon to Sat, at my Brickell office or in your county. Remote buyers get photos, video, and a call before anything ships.
Why is there no price on the page?
Steel Nautilus and Aquanaut references move fast enough that a posted figure goes stale. I quote in person, with the watch and the documents in front of you, and explain what drives the number.
Do you take trades toward a purchase?
Yes. Your current watch, Patek or otherwise, is inspected in person and credited against the piece you choose. The trade page explains the credit.
Can I collect in person?
Yes. Hand delivery or collection by appointment anywhere in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach. Outside South Florida the watch ships fully insured, USA only, with an inspection window on arrival, stated in the terms.
